Delight your guests with this Salted Caramel Apple Galette, a rustic dessert featuring tender apples wrapped in a flaky crust and drizzled with rich salted caramel.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 45 tbsp ice water
  • 3 cups Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples, peeled and thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Cut in chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough forms. Shape into a disk and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  4. In a bowl, toss sliced apples with sugar and cinnamon until evenly coated. Let sit while you prepare the caramel.
  5. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt brown sugar and butter together until bubbling.
  6. Slowly whisk in heavy cream (be cautious of splatters) and stir in sea salt until smooth.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Roll out chilled dough on a floured surface into a circle about an eighth of an inch thick.
  9. Place rolled-out dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Pile apple filling in the center, leaving edges clear.
  10. Drizzle with salted caramel before folding edges over apples gently.
  11. Bake for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  12. Let cool slightly before serving.
