Ingredients
Scale
4 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced (approximately 2 lbs)
1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
Instructions
Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Prepare Sweet Potatoes: Peel and slice sweet potatoes into thin rounds, about 1/8-inch thick.
Make the Sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and heavy cream until smooth.
Layer the Casserole: In the prepared baking dish, arrange half of the sweet potato slices in an even layer. Drizzle half of the sauce over them. Repeat with remaining sweet potatoes and sauce.
Bake: Cover tightly with aluminum foil (shiny side down) and bake for about 40 minutes until the sweet potatoes are tender.
Finish Baking: Remove foil for the last 10-15 minutes to allow the top to become golden-brown. For added crunch, sprinkle chopped pecans on top during this time.
Serve: Transfer generous portions onto plates and drizzle with any remaining sauce before serving.
