Experience a delightful fusion of sweet, tart cherries and a buttery crumb crust that will brighten any occasion.

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cups fresh cherries (pitted and halved)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • Reserved crumb mixture from the crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 baking dish with nonstick spray or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add softened butter and mix until crumbly.
  3. Set aside about one cup of this mixture for topping.
  4. Stir in pitted and halved cherries and almond extract into the remaining mixture.
  5. Press the cherry mixture evenly into the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until lightly golden brown around the edges.
  7. Sprinkle your reserved crumb mixture on top of the cherry base and bake again for another 15-20 minutes until golden brown on top.
