8 cups day-old bread, cubed
1 cup dried cranberries (unsweetened)
1 cup toasted pecans, chopped
1 cup celery, finely chopped
1 cup onion, diced
2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
2 tsp sage, dried or fresh
1 tsp thyme, dried or fresh
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare Your Bread: Spread cubed day-old bread on a baking sheet and toast in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes until slightly golden.
Sauté Your Veggies: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add chopped onions and celery. Sauté until soft, about five minutes.
Mix It All Together: In a large bowl, combine toasted bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, dried cranberries, toasted pecans, herbs, salt, and pepper. Gradually pour in chicken broth while mixing gently.
Bake It Up: Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish. Cover with foil and bake for about 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown on top.
Serve & Enjoy: Let it cool slightly before serving alongside your favorite main dishes or enjoy it straight from the dish!
