Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups stale bread cubes (mix of white and whole-grain)
  • 1 cup roasted chestnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tsp fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tsp fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, finely diced
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted (or olive oil)

Instructions

  1. 1. Preheat Your Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. 2. Sauté Aromatics: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and celery; sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. 3. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine stale bread cubes, sautéed onion and celery mixture, roasted chestnuts, parsley, thyme, and sage. Toss gently to coat bread evenly with herbs.
  4. 4. Add Liquid: Gradually pour in chicken broth while mixing gently until the bread is moist but not soggy.
  5. 5. Bake: Transfer the stuffing into a greased baking dish. Cover with foil and bake for about 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. 6. Serve: Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy family-style or plated!
