BBQ Bourbon Venison Meatballs are a savory delight, blending sweet and smoky flavors in tender, juicy bites that will wow your guests at any gathering.

  • 1 lb ground venison
  • 1 cup plain or seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp BBQ sauce (plus extra for glazing)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the finely diced onion until translucent, about five minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground venison, sautéed onions, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well using your hands until fully incorporated.
  4. Form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs (about two inches in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until cooked through and lightly browned on top (aim for an internal temperature of 160°F or 71°C).
  6. Remove from the oven and brush generously with BBQ sauce. Return to bake for an additional five minutes to achieve a sticky glaze.
