Duchess Potatoes are a luxurious twist on classic mashed potatoes, featuring creamy, buttery flavors elegantly piped and baked to golden perfection. A stunning side dish perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half)
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the Potatoes: Peel and chop the potatoes into even chunks. Place them in a large pot with cold water, add a pinch of salt, and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Drain and Mash: Drain the cooked potatoes thoroughly and return them to the pot. Mash using a potato masher or ricer until smooth. Stir in butter and heavy cream until creamy.
  3. Mix in Flavor: Add egg yolks, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the mashed potatoes. Mix until fully combined.
  4. Pipe It Up: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Transfer the potato mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star tip or use a ziplock bag with one corner snipped off. Pipe swirls onto the baking sheet.
  5. Bake Until Golden: Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown on top.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Allow cooling slightly before serving alongside your favorite main dishes.
