  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk until lukewarm and combine it with active dry yeast in a mixing bowl. Let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add melted butter and eggs to the yeast mixture and mix well.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients until combined. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a towel, and let rise in a warm area for about an hour until doubled in size.
  6. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.
  7. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle shape.
  8. Spread softened butter over the dough and sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly.
  9. Roll up the dough tightly from one side to another and slice into individual rolls.
  10. Place rolls in greased baking pans and let rise briefly (about 30 minutes).
  11. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  12. Beat cream cheese and butter together until creamy.
  13. Gradually mix in powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
  14. Drizzle frosting over warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
