Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for dough)
  • 2 cups finely chopped cabbage
  • 1 cup grated carrots
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, mix flour, instant yeast, and salt. Gradually add warm water, combining until soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for about one hour until doubled.
  2. Make the Filling: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté cabbage, carrots, and green onions for about five minutes until tender. Stir in soy sauce. Allow the filling to cool slightly.
  3. Shape the Buns: Once risen, punch down the dough and divide into equal portions. Roll each into circles about four inches wide. Place filling in the center of each circle and fold over to seal.
  4. Pan-Fry the Buns: Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add buns without overcrowding and fry until golden brown on both sides (about three minutes per side).
  5. Serve Hot: Drain excess oil on paper towels and serve warm with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
