Ingredients
Scale
6 cups day-old French bread, cubed
4 Granny Smith apples, cored and sliced
1 tsp ground cinnamon
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup packed brown sugar
4 large eggs
1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a large baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Cut the day-old French bread into one-inch cubes and place them evenly in the greased baking dish.
Core and slice the Granny Smith apples into thin wedges. Distribute them over the bread cubes and sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, brown sugar, and remaining cinnamon until smooth and frothy.
Pour the custard mixture evenly over the bread and apple layers. Gently press down with a spatula to ensure all pieces are soaked. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until golden brown and set in the center. The dessert should jiggle slightly without being liquidy.
Remove from oven and drizzle generously with caramel sauce before serving warm, or enjoy cold as leftovers.
