Ingredients
Scale
2 cups ripe pears, peeled and chopped
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg (freshly grated if possible)
1/4 tsp salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions
Preheat Your Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
Prepare Your Pears: Peel, core, and chop the ripe pears into small chunks. Set aside.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until well combined.
Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, beat the eggs and melted butter until smooth. Fold in the chopped pears until they are coated with butter.
Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mix and gently stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 45–50 minutes or until golden brown on top. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean or with a few crumbs.
Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool slightly before transferring it to a wire rack. Serve slices warm or at room temperature.
