Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 medium Russet potatoes, sliced thinly
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or rosemary

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash and peel the potatoes, then slice them into thin rounds. Chop the onion and mince the garlic.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat. Add onions and garlic; sauté until softened.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes followed by half of the beef mixture. Repeat layers. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  5. Let cool slightly before serving hot from the oven.
