Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz fresh cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 slices sourdough or rustic country bread
  • ½ cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup mozzarella cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients by slicing the mushrooms and mincing the garlic.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Sauté the sliced mushrooms until browned and tender (about 5-7 minutes). Add minced garlic in the last minute to avoid burning.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of bread. Assemble the sandwich: place one slice butter-side down in the skillet, layer with half of the cheese, sautéed mushrooms, remaining cheese, and top with another slice of bread.
  4. Grill for 3-4 minutes until golden brown; flip and cook an additional 3-4 minutes until both sides are crispy and cheese melts.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before cutting in half. Serve hot.
