Experience a lighter twist on classic burgers with this Crispy Cabbage Burger Bake, featuring a savory meat filling and a delightful cabbage crust.

  • 1 medium head green cabbage, roughly chopped
  • 1 lb lean ground beef or turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a large baking dish with nonstick cooking spray or olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté chopped onions until translucent (about 3 minutes).
  3. Add minced garlic and ground meat to the pan. Cook until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and herbs.
  4. Layer half of the chopped cabbage in the greased baking dish.
  5. Spoon half of the cooked meat mixture over the cabbage layer.
  6. Sprinkle half of both cheese types over the meat. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
  7. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for about 30 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
