Ingredients
Scale
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup Gruyère cheese, shredded
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
4 medium-sized Russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
Peel and thinly slice the Russet potatoes to about a quarter-inch thickness for even cooking.
In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir in shredded sharp cheddar cheese and Gruyère cheese until fully blended.
Place a layer of potato slices at the bottom of the greased baking dish. Pour some cheese sauce over them. Repeat this process until all potatoes are used, finishing with a layer of cheese sauce on top.
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Allow it to cool for about five minutes before serving to enhance flavors.
