  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans (9 inches) or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about three minutes).
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture alternately with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Pour equal amounts of batter into each prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let cool before frosting.
