Ingredients
Scale
1 cup popcorn kernels
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup light corn syrup
Pinch of salt
1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies
Instructions
Pop the popcorn kernels using an air popper or stovetop method. Place popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl, ensuring no unpopped kernels remain.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine granulated sugar, unsalted butter, light corn syrup, and salt. Stir continuously until boiling. Allow to bubble for about four minutes without stirring.
Remove the saucepan from heat and pour the caramel sauce over the popcorn. Gently toss with a spatula until all pieces are evenly coated.
While the popcorn is still warm, sprinkle crushed peppermint candies over it and toss to distribute evenly.
Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C). Spread the popcorn mixture onto a lined baking sheet in an even layer. Bake for one hour, stirring every fifteen minutes to enhance crispiness.
Once baked, let cool completely on the baking sheet before breaking into clusters for serving. Enjoy in festive bowls or bags!
