Ingredients
Scale
1 lb beef liver, sliced into ½-inch thick pieces
1 large onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp butter or olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Prepare the Liver: Rinse the beef liver under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Cut into manageable pieces if necessary.
Soak in Milk (Optional): If desired, soak the liver in milk for about 1 hour to mellow its flavor. Drain afterward.
Sauté the Onions: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter or olive oil. Add sliced onions and cook until golden brown and tender, about 10 minutes.
Cook the Liver: Push the onions to one side of the skillet. Add liver pieces in a single layer, seasoning well with salt and pepper. Cook for approximately 3 minutes on each side until browned but still slightly pink in the center.
Add Garlic: Stir minced garlic into the skillet during the last minute of cooking to infuse flavor.
Serve: Transfer to plates and garnish with fresh herbs if desired. Pair with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
